Love Never Fails

What is love?

Life looks sometimes bitter and love is seen as a feeling, or a weakness, or hormones.

God loved us and that is why He sent His only Son to die on the cross for us so we don’t go to hell if we believe in Him.

So love isn’t a feeling, it is an act!

It is something powerful that can change destinies and lives.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

When we look around us and see marriages failing, families destroyed, we ask  ourselves how does the bible say that love never fails? We should question: what love are we living?

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.Love never fails… 1Corinthians 13:4-8

Love as depicted above gives everything he got for the other despite his own needs, it requires to be a living sacrifice as God is, so when we do this and give ourselves entirely to the other with no expectation of any kind in return, this kind of love never fails, it grows and defies all problems, all challenges, and drives us to be more pure and more divine, this love can never fail, because it is His love, and whatever God does cannot do but only succeed.

So what do we do when we feel that we have loved enough, sacrificed enough? What do we do when we feel that we have no more love in us to give?

…God is love (1 John 4:8) When we are empty there is no other solution, there is no other source. All we need to do is ask Him to fill us again, so we could love with no limit and sacrifice with no limit.

This is the word we built our marriage upon, not feelings or human mightiness because these will cease and fail. However, God’s word endures and it will never fail, so that our love and marriage will endure and never fail.

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1Corinthians13:13

Our wedding day…

If it were up to us we would have been married a long time ago. But as God knew what is better for us, He made us wait and be more ready and mature for this huge step. During this time we learned how to listen to God’s voice, and in the right time, everything came in its place and the day 23/06/2016 arrived when we finally became One.

For my special day, I wanted a modern vintage theme, white and light pastel colors, classical and elegant wedding.

. It’s fair to say that I have been planning in my mind and dreaming about this day for 2 years and when that day of decisions came it wasn’t hard to choose.

I am very picky, as my husband; therefore we decided to do everything we can by ourselves. My husband took care of all the music of the ceremony and dinner, the artwork and design of printed material including our logo, and the videos that showcased our childhood and our friends. I took the part of choosing and planning to make sure that we have all the details we wanted. When you do everything by yourself it won’t be easy, but it will surely go right (if you are a planner by nature).

Our wedding looked pretty much like our personality and that is why our family and friends liked it. We tried to have a small and cozy wedding as much as we could, but it was a bit hard due to our Lebanese traditions.

Quick tips:

  • Plan First

Planning is the most important thing. It’s the only way you won’t get lost, and know the next step. You can find many plans on the internet. I personally recommend you to download many and do your own plan out of them.

  • Distribute the tasks

Don’t do everything by yourself. After setting the plan, try to distribute the tasks as much as you can. By that you will make your family and friends feel included.

  • Set the budget

We always want every detail in our wedding day to be unforgettable but you don’t want to get bankrupt, especially when you are starting a new life with many responsibilities. Once you have set your budget, keep count of all the expenses even the very little ones.

  • Choose the wedding theme

Searching for a theme on the web can give you many nice ideas, but it can make you feel lost and unable to choose only one. So when you find a theme that matches your personality stick with it, stop searching, and don’t try to do a theme salad on your wedding day. After choosing your theme you will certainly find other ideas, my personal advice… stick with your first choice.

  • Personalization is a must

A special wedding doesn’t mean a big budget wedding; it means a cozy and personalized one. So don’t try to look or do what others do. Prepare activities that will allow you to really celebrate your beautiful day with your guests.

Our 8th Anniversary Together

Ted baker handbag, scarf, heels // Jumpsuit from Bershka // earrings from H&M

For our 8th anniversary together I wanted to wear something elegant and classy but also summery. So I chose my army green jumpsuit, a very calm color, and added to it the light pink heels and handbag. For a haze of retro style I added a pattern scarf also with a light pink color and curled my hair to the inside.

We went to the restaurant where we celebrated our 1st anniversary and enjoyed our night to the max. We were celebrating “us” for the very first time as married and if felt so good going back home together.

Thailand

Phuket

Our last destination for our honeymoon was Phuket, Thailand. We stayed there for 5 nights in Dusit Thani Hotel in the Laguna Area. Our room had an ocean view that we enjoyed while sitting on our terrace sipping great tea. The best thing we did there was our escape to phi phi island. As a clear water hunter I loved to see the superb crystal blue water. The speed boat ride was a real adventure as we sat in the front. The sea was extremely agitated, the waves were so rough however, we totally enjoyed balancing the lemonade in the middle of the bouncy sea. At one point the guide told us to move inside because  we were about to pass in the middle of a sea storm (yeah, extremely exotic weather) so we didn’t want to go inside we were just wearing swimsuits in the fastest boat having the rain piercing through our skin, and that was hurtful! Then we stopped in a beautiful place and went snorkeling. We saw blue corals closing and opening as we approached them, beautiful, colorful fish with an amazing fluorescent blue. It was my first time snorkeling, it took me time to understand the breathing concept and when I did I was finally able to enjoy the underwater life! Maya Bay was beautiful but too crowdy, it was too hard to see the beauty of the place due to the million boats that were there. At the end of the trip we settled at phi phi island where we ate some fresh fruits, and swam in the sea with the beautiful green mountains around us.

We couldn’t go to Thailand and not assist at the Fantasea Show. We took the golden tickets and when we arrived there, we were so happy we did. The dinner was a seafood buffet in a restaurant that was gold from floor to roof, where I ate the freshest salmon sashimi I have ever tasted. We walked and enjoyed the dreamy architectures, took a picture with elephants, we even had the opportunity to cuddle a baby tiger of two month and take a picture with it. The show was great, we saw elephants standing on two feet, twirling their truk, doing “la queue le le”.

When we were still booking our vacation I read about the tea tree spa in the Holiday inn resort, and I was very excited to try it. When we arrived, we booked our massage just before our flight back home. We took the tea tree spa signature for two. It was amazing, a real 5 stars experience, the package had a facial, and it was the best facial experience I ever had.

We had a bad luck to have 2 days of storm in Phuket. Usually when it rains there, you just wear a rain coat and continue your schedule. But when there is a real storm, you can’t do any water activity. So before going there check the indoor activities your hotel offers, or even the indoor activities you can do in Thailand, like the orchid museum and many more…

Kuala Lumpur

We spent only 2 days in Kuala Lumpur after a supercharged week of activities in the Indonesian nature. We stayed in Traders Hotel right next to the twin towers. Our room was very modern and high-tech but it did not have the famous twin towers view due to our travel agency’s mistake however, the city view was ok. We spent the whole 2 days shopping, walking in the city; we discovered a great restaurant that has the tastiest food, the famous recipes by “Madam Kwan’s”. Everything is very cheap there especially the food. Unlike guys, I have the chance that my husband likes shopping with me and enjoys it.

If you are a shopping lover and you did not discover Kuala Lumpur yet, then you have missed a lot! The city is very safe, very clean, attractive, and it’s the best place to shop. Unlike the other places that we have visited in Asia, this city becomes alive just after the sun sets. After that we went home, I heard that the Malaysian street food is not to miss, sadly we did not try it because we simply did not know about it but if you are going their try not to miss it. Kuala Lumpur really attracted me, and I am already planning on going back there, because in case you didn’t know, I am a shopping lover.

Ubud

Our first destination for our honeymoon was Ubud, Indonesia, we stayed there for 2 nights in Kupu Kupu Barong Resort I think the best in town. The first day we arrived very late at night to the hotel so we couldn’t see or do much. The second day we woke up, we had an amazing breakfast in the “la view” restaurant, it has a panoramic forest view. The free shuttle from the hotel took us to downtown Ubud we walked from there to the monkey forest. Walking in the streets of Ubud and discovering their stores, was super fun and exciting especially when it suddenly rains. While walking in the street we had the opportunity to do a fish pedicure called “Garra rufa”, tickling at first, however very relaxing. As a juice person I was the happiest person on earth drinking a coconut bigger than my head. The monkey forest is so nice to see if you are an animal lover like my husband, you can feed them bananas, they sit on your backpack and they even try to steal your ring, so watch out! The next day we visited Bali Kintamani Volcano and the Luwak Coffee plantation where we were very happy to discover such beautiful places (I don’t recommend you to buy any kind of coffee they will propose, taste them but don’t buy them as they don’t taste the same). I totally recommend you to visit Ubud but not more than two days.

Nusa Dua

Nusa Dua is by far the best place we visited in our honeymoon and totally fell in love with it. We stayed there for 5 days in Grand Hyatt. The hotel is huge we had to walk about 10 minutes from our room to arrive at the lobby, great exercise while eating a lot of Asian food;  the gardens were very well maintained as if we were walking in a dreamy garden. The hotel also had a direct access to the ocean but we did not take profit of it much as we had a lot of activities to do.  We took a swim with the dolphins, kissed them, gave them a massage, saw them twirling and jumping, a real must do if you go there.  We went also to Bali Safari & Marine Park and saw all kinds of animals. The park is very organized and very clean. We were going from a show to another and from an activity to another. We took the rhino package and it was totally worth it, especially that it had the lunch next to the lions in it. We weren’t told to bring our swimsuits with us but even if we had them we couldn’t use them as there was no time. What I loved the most about Nusa Dua is how clean and beautiful the streets are, and even if it is a touristic place it wasn’t crowdy at all.

Our engagement photo-shoot

It was in the end of summer 2014 that my love and I did a photo shoot in the occasion of our engagement. I chose two different themes the first bohemian with trees in the background, the second modern classy with mountains in the background. Both were taken the same day in Faqra where at place everything came together as I wanted. I also chose the clothes based on the theme color that was light pastel colors and planned with the photographer the style and the theme colors of the photos. Every detail was linked to our wedding theme as a preparation to the big day.

I have a confession to make and I think that many of you will agree, every time a camera is spotted on me I get uncomfortable, and as it’s said if you feel awkward you will look awkward in the photos, and that is not funny. But I found a way to hide my fear of camera by looking in the eyes my love… Magic! And that is how I can relax, I forget about the camera, I think about us and just be myself.

Here is what you need to know to plan your photo-shoot:

For a successful inspiring photo-shoot you need to choose a theme that reflects yours personality. If it is an engagement photo-shoot it is better if you link it to the theme of your wedding, so you can put your guests in the mood of the wedding. Being specific and picky will help you to build your wanted theme.

The clothes’ style is as important as their colors and same for the accessories. Take the time to plan for every detail and all the accessories that will make your theme clear. The location should be chosen depending on the theme, to test if everything is coming together try to see if the accessories go in harmony with the background and if they do, then you are good to go. Once the photo-shoot is done, you don’t want a coloring that will change the mood and the style of the photos so pay attention before starting the photo-shoot to talk with the photographer so he can foresee the end result, because eventually an adequate coloring will just enhance the mood that you want and make everything better.
