What is love?
Life looks sometimes bitter and love is seen as a feeling, or a weakness, or hormones.
God loved us and that is why He sent His only Son to die on the cross for us so we don’t go to hell if we believe in Him.
So love isn’t a feeling, it is an act!
It is something powerful that can change destinies and lives.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
When we look around us and see marriages failing, families destroyed, we ask ourselves how does the bible say that love never fails? We should question: what love are we living?
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.8 Love never fails… 1Corinthians 13:4-8
Love as depicted above gives everything he got for the other despite his own needs, it requires to be a living sacrifice as God is, so when we do this and give ourselves entirely to the other with no expectation of any kind in return, this kind of love never fails, it grows and defies all problems, all challenges, and drives us to be more pure and more divine, this love can never fail, because it is His love, and whatever God does cannot do but only succeed.
So what do we do when we feel that we have loved enough, sacrificed enough? What do we do when we feel that we have no more love in us to give?
…God is love (1 John 4:8) When we are empty there is no other solution, there is no other source. All we need to do is ask Him to fill us again, so we could love with no limit and sacrifice with no limit.
This is the word we built our marriage upon, not feelings or human mightiness because these will cease and fail. However, God’s word endures and it will never fail, so that our love and marriage will endure and never fail.
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1Corinthians13:13
